Brain–Computer Interfaces and Neural Network Disorders: Translational and Clinical Advances
Our special issue focuses on the cutting-edge advances in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and neural network mechanisms for the treatment of various neurological disorders. With rapid developments in neuromodulation hardware and decoding techniques, BCIs have transitioned from experimental settings to clinical applications, offering novel intervention strategies for refractory conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and spinal cord injuries.
This issue aims to showcase innovative BCI applications that drive motor recovery, cognitive rehabilitation, and the treatment of other neurological conditions. We are particularly interested in and welcome high-quality, clinically translatable research on neural signal decoding algorithms, the design of closed-loop feedback systems, neuroplasticity, and real-time adaptive interfaces—all pivotal to enhancing the precision and accessibility of BCI technology. We also welcome interdisciplinary teams to submit studies exploring the underlying mechanisms of BCIs and neural (circuit) networks, including animal or cellular experiments, single-cell/spatial omics research, and neuroimaging studies. We hope that this special issue will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform for researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and paving the way for the next generation of therapeutic strategies.
