On thy cold gray stones, O Sea!
And I would that my tongue could utter
The thoughts that arise in me.
O, well for the fisherman's boy,
That he shouts with his sister at play!
O, well for the sailor lad,
That he sings in his boat on the bay!
And the stately ships go on
To their haven under the hill;
But O for the touch of a vanished hand,
And the sound of a voice that is still!
Break, break, break,
At the foot of thy crags, O Sea!
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to me.
海浪喧哗（武夷山译）
哗啦，哗啦，哗啦，
冲上阴冷的礁石，啊海浪！
愿我的语言能够表达
埋藏心底的惆怅。
啊，那渔夫的男孩多么愉快，
与姊妹一起游戏呼喊；
啊，那年轻的水手多么愉快，
且引吭高歌且荡舟海湾。
庄严的船队在进发
驶向山下的海港；
可那消失了的柔荑的轻抚
与那静默了的声音竟在何方！
哗啦，哗啦，哗啦，
冲着巉岩的跟脚，啊海浪！
可那逝去的温柔美好时光
再也不回我的身旁。

我多希望我的唇能倾吐
那涌上心头的悲怀。
啊，那渔家少年多欢快，
与妹妹嬉戏笑开怀！
啊，那年轻水手多自在，
海湾里荡舟歌声嗨！
庄严的船队驶向前方，
奔赴山下的避风港；
可我多想再触碰消逝的温暖，
再聆听沉寂的声响！
拍岸，拍岸，拍岸，
在你峭壁之下，大海！
但逝去岁月的温存光彩，
再不会为我归来。
（翻译说明：本译本在忠实原诗情感基调的基础上，采用"拍岸"对应"Break"的拟声叠词，通过"阴冷灰暗的礁石"营造原诗的忧郁氛围。第二、三节保持ABAB韵式，用"笑开怀/歌声嗨"再现少年们的欢愉。末节"温存光彩"对应"tender grace"的意象转化，最后一行采用倒装句式强化永逝之感，整体兼顾韵律节奏与意境传达。）
