英语是否退出主科位置是另一个问题，但当今科学语言是英语是事实。

要阅读科技论文，主流的和重要的论文基本都在英语期刊上发表，而且有一篇文章研究表明，以英文出版的文章比其他语言发表的引文数量更高。这意谓着，从传播和对科学共同体贡献的角度讲，用英文发表效果更好。
