I did a bit more research about GPT and learned that
GPT is just a language model.
It merely predicts what is the more likely next word based on its vast data base and the previous word of the text
No reasoning ability were built into it.
This explains some of its behavior that I observed in my earlier blog on the subject when I ask it to answer questions I posed that involve searching and reasoning.
However there is an improved model of GPT called GPT-4 which seemed to possess the ability to reason even though this ability was still not designed into it. In other words, GPT-4 seems to have developed this ability on its own.
Several experiments were designed to compare the ability of GPT anbd GPT-4 with interesting results
This has caused alarms among computer scientists which are still not resolved. Since this raises the possibility that many human reasoning ability may not be as complicated and/or as intelligent as we believed. Question: Are we going to be replaced by GPT-5 or GPT-x that is surely going to come?
Our brain function is still the last frontier least understood and to be explored. Stay tuned.
