INTERCONNECT - A New Play about Ch\ina, America, and the Chinese in the US
With the Internet as the background connection, this play is a series of vignettes about the last 50 years of history of China and America across 3 generations of the Chinese diaspora in the US climaxing in the disruptive pandemic of the past four years. connecting Wuhan, Shanghai, and Greater Boston. I watched the play in its third premiere in Lexington Town Hall last night in an auditorium full of local Chinese Americans. The play has interesting content, almost entired performed by local amatuers to whom I gave an A for effort. Hlowever, unless the audience is entirely populated by person such as myself who are deeply immersed in both the Chinese and American culture and personally lived thourgh the last 50 years, some of the finer points and subtlety will be lost. The theme song of the play -"your lift me up" may escape you. I was nevertheless very touched and resonated with the story. But I am not sure it will be a hit in the US or China for the general population.
