Aims: 

- to give insights into theoretic, methodological, and practical aspects of informetrics

- to present quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze scientific communication

- to demonstrate tools to quantitatively analyze the web Content:

  - quantitative aspects in measuring science, collaboration and distribution of knowledge

  - current themes in informetric, bibliometric and webometric research

  - indicators for evaluating scientific communication and the growth of science

  - information visualization - quantitative analysis of the web and social media and the use of these

  - citation analysis and other bibliometric measures.

 

Learning objectives:

After a completed course it is expected that the student knows theoretical and methodological aspects in informetrics, bibliometrics, and webometrics. It is expected that the student can independently complete quantitative analysis on scientific activities, collaboration, and also to analyze the web and social media with quantitative methods.
