2024年1月10日,Wiley旗下top期刊《Advanced Materials》在线发表了云南师范大学化学与化工学院赵学博士、浙江海洋大学周英堂教授、中国电子科技大学孙旭平等团队合作的最新研究成果《Unveiling Cutting-Edge Developments in Electrocatalytic Nitrate-to-Ammonia Conversion云南师范大学化学与化工学院赵学博士、浙江海洋大学周英堂教授、中国电子科技大学孙旭平为共同通讯作者。

Advanced Materials上发表题为“Unveiling Cutting-Edge Developments in Electrocatalytic Nitrate-to-Ammonia Conversion”的综述性文章。该综述旨在通过整合现有研究进展和挑战,对eNitRR领域进行及时和全面的分析。该综述总结多种元素在eNitRR中的应用,阐明了eNitRR背后的理论机制,分析了影响eNitRR最终结果的影响因素,总结了检测中间体和氨的现有技术手段,并基于大量案例研究讨论了提高NO3˗向NH3电化学还原效率的有效策略。最后,本文讨论了eNitRR领域的挑战和发展前景,以期早日实现大规模绿色可持续硝酸盐电还原催化剂的设计与开发。

The excessive enrichment of nitrate in the environment can be convertedinto ammonia (NH3) through electrochemical processes, offering significantimplications for modern agriculture and the potential to reduce the burden ofthe Haber–Bosch (HB) process while achieving environmentally friendly NH3production. Emerging research on electrocatalytic nitrate reduction (eNitRR) toNH3has gained considerable momentum in recent years for efficient NH3syn-thesis. However, existing reviews on nitrate reduction have primarily focusedon limited aspects, often lacking a comprehensive summary of catalysts, reac-tion systems, reaction mechanisms, and detection methods employed in nitratereduction. This review aims to provide a timely and comprehensive analysis ofthe eNitRR field by integrating existing research progress and identifying cur-rent challenges. This review offers a comprehensive overview of the researchprogress achieved using various materials in electrochemical nitrate reduction,elucidates the underlying theoretical mechanism behind eNitRR, and discusseseffective strategies based on numerous case studies to enhance the electro-chemical reduction from NO3˗to NH3. Finally, this review discusses challengesand development prospects in the eNitRR field with an aim to guide designand development of large-scale sustainable nitrate reduction electrocatalysts.
