长久以来意图(intention)是用来预测和解释行为(behavior)的重要因子。因此，许多理论也用来研究影响人们意图的因素，例如，TRA, TPB, TAM, UTAUT, MM, Efficacy, ECT-IS, (Shiau & Chau 2016; Shiau etal., 2020). 然而，意图无法充分预测和解释行为的原因，尚需要深入研究。Wu and Du（2012）在《Toward a better understanding of behavioral intention and system usage constructs》研究中，基于前人对意图和行为关系的分析结果，进一步了解用户行为，提出了三种使用构念（actual usage，reported usage和assessed usage）来检查用户使用意图和系统使用情况，批判性地研究和比较了这些核心变量及其与关键技术接受决定因素的关系。研究发现：(1)智力与决定因素的相关性远高于智力与使用因素的相关性，因此智力的差异大于使用因素的差异；(2)Bl不能很好地代替使用；(3)三种使用构念中，评估使用构念与Bl的高度相关最多，实际使用构念与Bl的高度相关最少；(4)研究人员应该在每一项研究中都检查实际使用和评估使用，以揭示系统使用及其前因之间的真实关系。
