Robert Jeffrey Edwards (1925.09.27-2013.04.10) was born in Manchester, England. He and Patrick Steptoe (died in 1988) jointly developed in vitro artificial insemination technology (commonly known as test tube baby technology). He was 87 years old.

He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for developing "in vitro fertilization technology".
