Unheard Voices: Domestic Violence in the Asian American Community:

The comparison between Peter Liang’s case and Li Ouyang’s case clearly illuminates what a domestic violence battered woman faces in Asian American community: Barriers on the individual, cultural, and institutional levels may interact to form the UNHEARD VOICES.
Given the key role of a mother on kids’ development of world view, philosophy of life, and social values, the importance of women's education can never be overemphasized. A woman is strong not because she indiscriminately throws away the tradition but because she grows out of the tradition on a land of modern era.
本人一直对传统文化比较感兴趣,取其精华,去其糟粕,才是现代女性的立身根本。很喜欢女德表达的智慧,这一点和基督教有一些共通之处

2. Background knowledge (Most westerners have no idea of China's history and culture):
Being a good woman in traditional Chinese culture entails “Three Obediences and Four Virtues (三从四德)”.
The “Three Obediences” were “obey your father before marriage (未嫁从父); obey your husband when married (既嫁从夫); and obey your sons in widowhood (夫死从子)”.
The “Four Virtues” were “Female virtues (妇德)”, “Female words (妇言)”, “Female appearances (妇容)” and “Female work (妇功)”.
