∮ 1德国矿物学家和昆虫学家Ernst Friedrich Germar院士 (1786--1853)

         19世纪德国学者Ernst Friedrich Germar (1786--1853)是著名的矿物学家和昆虫学家。他涉及植物化石的研究，并参与行政管理工作。1786年，Ernst Friedrich Germar出生于萨克森州(Saxony) Glauchau镇的富商家庭，属于“富二代”。

       1804年，Ernst Friedrich Germar 到Freiberg著名矿业学院（Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg）学习矿物学。后来，他到Halle大学(University of Halle / Universität Halle-Wittenberg)学习自然科学及法学。1810年，获得动物学博士学位。

        Ernst Friedrich Germar在其职业和科学生涯主要供职于Halle大学。对昆虫化石颇有研究的瑞士著名古植物学家Oswald Heer (1809--1883)曾跟随Ernst Friedrich Germar学习昆虫学。Ernst Friedrich Germar的科学贡献主要在于昆虫化石的研究，但也涉及到植物化石的研究。

       1844—1853年间，Ernst Friedrich Germar研究了产自Halle附近的Weltin 及Löbejün石炭纪底层的昆虫化石，同时也研究植物化石，发表专著--“Die Versteinerungen des Steinkohlengebirges von Weltin und Löbejün im Saalkreise”。这是十九世纪中叶德国古植物学的重要文献。

        Ernst Friedrich Germar于1819年当选为德国科学院院士(German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina)；1845年被遴选为瑞典皇家科学院外籍院士(Foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences)。

--1786: Born in Glauchau of the Free State of Saxony (萨克森自由州), Germany;

--1804—1807: Studied mineralogy at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg,  then natural sciences and jurisprudence at the University of Leipzig;

--1810: Received a doctorate degree in zoology;

--Hired by the University of Halle (Universität Halle-Wittenberg);

--1815: Married Wilhelmine Keferstein (1755--1816);

--1816: Appointed as an associate professor of the University of Halle;

--1819: Elected to the German Academy of Sciences—Leopoldina;

--1823: Appointed as a full professor of mineralogy and director of the mineralogical collections;

--1834—1835: Served as Vice Rector of the University of Halle;

--1839—1844: Served as an editor of the entomological journal Zeitschrift fürdie Entomologie;

Zeitschrift für die Entomologie. Leipzig :Friedrich Fleischer, 1839-; 1. Bd., 1. Heft (1839)-

--1842: Succeeded by Carl Hermann Conrad Burmeister (1807--1892);

--1844—1853: Published

--1845: Elected to a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences;

--1853: Died in Halle of Saxony-Anhalt (萨克森-安哈尔特), Germany.
