About Lovers of Stars：binary star stellar population synthesis

Although single star stellar population synthesis is widely used, binaries are absolutely there and playing important roles in galaxies and star clusters. To model stellar populations via binaries is one of six main challenges in stellar population studies (from proceedings of IAUS262, page 3-11) and it will become more and more important. Stellar populations of bianries and single stars are different a lot. The research team of Prof. Zhongmu Li is studying binary star population synthesis. This team, as the first time, gives the effect of binary interactions in population studies via spectral line indices and colours. We are continuing to go ahead in the way of binary star stellar population synthesis.
