西昌以西昌卫星发射中心最为出名,它位于四川省西昌市西北65公里处的大凉山峡谷腹地-冕宁县泽远乡封家湾。西昌卫星发射中心,又称“西昌卫星城”,是中国卫星发射基地,始建于1970年,1982年交付使用。该发射中心主要承担地球同步轨道卫星,通信、广播、气象卫星等试验发射和应用发射任务。其实西昌还有一所高校也同样值得人们关注,它就是西昌学院Xichang University)。这是一所坐落在四川省西昌市,是经教育部备案的全日制普通本科学校,是四川省教育部国家民族事务委员会共建高校,国家教育现代化推进工程应用型本科高校建设项目学校、四川省本科院校整体转型发展改革试点单位;入选国家卓越农林人才教育培养计划四川省卓越农林人才教育培养计划四川省卓越工程师教育培养计划四川省卓越教师教育培养计划。虽然学院的历史可以追溯到1939北洋工学院内迁西昌创建的国立西康技艺专科学校,但是,到2003年,才经教育部批准由西昌农业高等专科学校西昌师范高等专科学校凉山大学、凉山教育学院合并组建为四川省属全日制普通本科院校。 

据“百度百科”介绍,截至20201127日,西昌学院有北、南、西三校区,占地1900亩,建筑面积46m2,固定资产总值8.58亿元(RMB),教学科研仪器设备总值2.59亿元(RMB),纸质图书227万册;设有17个二级学院,66个本科专业;有全日制在校生20401人;有教职工1000余人,专任教师877余人,其中正高职称107人、副高职称217人,博士、硕士研究生696余人。通过Dimensions数据库检索,对西昌学院近十余年的研究成果进行统计,分不同层次加以介绍,作为对西昌学院的更全面了解,仅供参考。

1. 累计被收录成果356项

逐年被收录量的变化见图1所示。由图1可知,2017年之后,Dimensions数据库年收录其论文数量突飞猛进。可能与教师队伍结构的改变有关,年轻高学历的科研后起之秀已经崭露头角。

 2. 研究分类统计结果

生物科学排名第一,其次是工程类,第三是遗传学;化学紧随其后。但是平均被引频次最高的学科反而是化学类(包括材料类)成果,农学与兽医科学平均被引频次排名第二、医疗卫生类平均被引频次排名第三。详见表1所示。
