For new readers and those who request to be “好友 good friends” please read my 公告栏 first.

This article has been updated as of Nov 10, 2017. Also, if you have difficulty getting the article due to changes in the URL over time. you can always search for it using the title via the ScienceNet search feature. I also will appreciated readers letting me know of any mistakes in addresses.

While I very much appreciate comments by readers on my blog articles, I still encounter often queries seeking help and advice on particular questions. They fall into two categories:

1. Open –ended question such as “tell me how to pick a good topic for research?”. I have previously written that why it is impossible for me to answer such questions honestly and completely without taking on the questioner as a ph.d student for 4-5 years

2. Question concerning issues I have already answered in one of the nearly 700+ articles I have written in the previous 10 years. Of course, I don’t expect every reader to have read every one of my articles. Thus, to answer the question I need to find the URL of the article and point it out to the reader.

To avoid the task of responding to questions of type 1 and 2 each and every time, I have decided to categorize SOME of my articles into broad classes and list them here. In the future, readers can just browse this article and look up the information, or I merely have to point the reader to this article and from here they with little effort can go directly to the relevant piece for information without having to go although all 700 some articles.
