——好玩儿的字母（R）

   昨夜听雨，想起放翁的“深巷明朝卖杏花”，杏花是没有的，桃花菜花应是开了。不过，最令人向往的还是“隔帘春雨细，高枕晓莺长”（作者更有名的诗句是“万里黄河绕黑山”）。

   英文诗歌写春雨的，似乎没有如许的情趣。Sara Teasdale（1884-1933）写春雨是从第一声春雷写起的，她的雨是a rush rain，她想起的情景是，闪电划过长街的夜空，而他们站在黑暗的门口：

I remembered a darkened doorway

Where we stood while the storm swept by,

Thunder gripping the earth

And lightning scrawled on the sky.

   她的心和春雨一样狂野和快乐，因为你的眼睛说了好多：

With the wild spring rain and thunder

My heart was wild and gay;

Your eyes said more to me that night

Than your lips would ever say. . . .

   对比一下戴望舒的雨巷，感觉是多么不同——因为雨带来的联想就是不同的。莎翁在长诗Venus and Adonis（line 799-804）里从雨后的阳光想到了爱和欲，春与冬，虽然很哲理，却没有我们在中文诗里应该看到的意象：

   Lovecomforteth like sunshine after rain,

But Lust's effect is tempest after sun;

Love's gentle spring doth always fresh remain,

Lust's winter comes ere summer half be done;

Love surfeits not, Lust like a glutton dies;

             Love is all truth,Lust full of forged lies.
