My grandparents are normal Chinese farmers. They have the nature of Chinese farmers such as hardworking, saving and kindness. My father was born at 1951. At that time the people’s republic of china was founded only 2 years, the people in our country also lived in poverty. And my father is the first child of my grandparents, so he had to help my grandparents to do the heavy farm works when he was still a young boy. My mother has the similar experience. When he was 16 years old, he became a soldier. Hence he left his hometown. Unfortunately, when he was 33 years old a serious fever resulted in his deafness. I have 2 elder sisters. I was born because my parents want to have a son under the strict family planning policy. So my birth was punished by government. An unfortunate thing happened to my family again. My eldest sister was dumb resulted from the fever. I think of it as the darkest hour is before dawn. My parents brought us up very carefully and painstaking. About 10 years later, my second oldest sister wins the scholarship from Singapore government, and left for National University of Singapore. And she has a happy family in Singapore now.

       When I was only 5 years old or elder than that, there is only one black and white television in my family. My father likes to watch news, my sisters like to watch soap opera, but I like to watch some films bout military. So we had to fight against for the remote control. Today I can choose any channel I like. However, I don’t feel happier than the time when we live together.

       When I was a child we ate family reunion dinner together with my grandparents and my uncles. I would get a new dress or some presents from them. And I would kowtow to my grandparents and wish them good health and long life. But my grandfather died when I was preparing for the college entrance exam. It was a pity forever that I did not accompany with him when he died.

       I guess the Chinese parents’ love is different from American parents’ because of the different culture. My parents love me very much even though I am 23 years old today. I give you an example. One day, my mother called me and told me that the H1N1 is very serious in China and please takes care of yourself. I said I know more information than her because I can find any news from Internet and she can only from the TV. But she also told me to be careful. I immediately felt ashamed because I did not think of giving a phone to my old parents. I owe them too much.

       There are my dear family members. I will love them forever!
