横批: 回家过年

Most of us think that 2008 is meant to be a good year. Yet at the very start, some unusual snow fell in the southern part of China and had put so many people's lives in misery and despair. My heart is bleeding and I wish I could do something, like handing out food to the children or holding their hands in the dark. But Oxford is too far away…

 

  I have been struggling all week with the second part of the Chinese couplet; the first part was given by Professor Meng. But now, without much effort, it has come to me easily. It is not a very good one in couplet terms but I like to record it here anyway to pay my respect to those who are fighting hard in this “snow war”.
