Richard Axel is an American medical scientist. He won the 2004 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine together with Linda barker for his outstanding research on smell。
Richard Axel was born in New York on July 2, 1946. He received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1967 and his medical doctor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1970. He now works at Howard Hughes Medical Institute of Columbia University and is a professor of Biochemistry, molecular biophysics and pathology. [1]

He received his medical doctor's degree from the college in 1970. In 1978, he served as a professor at Columbia University. In 1983, he became a member of the National Academy of Sciences. In 1984, he served as a researcher in the Medical Research Institute of Harvard University.
Dr. Richard Axel is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Scholars Association, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has won many awards in the American and international scientific circles, such as the Lilly award in biochemistry, the Richard lawnsbury award of the National Academy of Sciences, and so on. In addition, Axel also won the Bristol Myers Squibb award and geldaner International Fund for his outstanding achievements in nervous system research.
