Abstract: A comprehensive evaluation on the biosafety of graphene oxide (GO) was developed by combining 16S rRNA sequencing, gene expression detection, histology and scanning electron microscope assay on fish. GO does not affect the diversity and composition of gut microbiota, but down-regulates gene expression in fish liver, suggesting that it poses a potential risk to aquatic ecosystems.
