2012年诺贝尔化学奖刚刚授予两位美国科学家Duke大学的Robert J. Lefkowitz和Stanford大学的Brian K. Kobilka，奖励“G蛋白偶联受体研究”。请看Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) 这一全球著名的非营利性医学研究机构是如何发布这一消息的：
HHMI’s Robert Lefkowitz Awarded 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced today that Robert J. Lefkowitz, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) investigator at Duke University, and Brian K. Kobilka of Stanford University School of Medicine are the recipients of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for studies of G-protein coupled receptors.
众多炸药奖生理和化学奖得主尤其是美国科学家都是HHMI investigator不是什么新闻。搞笑的是今年的化学奖，HHMI宣布前者是HHMI investigator,而后者不是。
事实上后者于1987– 2003当选为HHMI研究员（一个聘期5年），后来没有续聘（个人推测估计是工作当时没得到HHMI评委的认可，不然谁也不愿放弃HHMI 对当选研究员每年雷打不动的巨额资助），不过后者并没受影响，其鉴定的GPCR结构被列为Science杂志The runners-up for 2007′s Breakthrough of the Year，当选2011年美国科学院院士，具体可以看看之前的博客
