We cordially invite you to attend the 1st International Symposium on Mass Transit Rail Facilities Design and Management (1stISMTRFDM 2011) to be held on August 4-5, 2011 in Suzhou, China. The symposium will be organized by the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, City University of Hong Kong and Suzhou Key Laboratory of Urban Public Safety, University of Science and Technology of China.
With the development of urbanization and expansion of urban population in many developing countries, subway/ mass transit rail systems haveexperienced a blooming progress. The maturity of subway/ mass transit rail system, which is always regarded as the landmark of a city, represents the urban civilization and social and economic development.The First ISMTRFDM (2011) aims at providing a platform for researchers and engineers to exchange the latest research results, advanced technologies or engineering experiences on subway/ mass transit rail services worldwide, with focuses on stations and associated structures design, passenger flow, fire safety/security engineering, signal and information controls, video surveillance, potential risk analysis and management etc.
The topics include but are not limited to:
· Pedestrian and passenger flow simulations for mass transit facilities;
· Performance-based fire safety engineering for subway/ mass transit rail system;
· Video surveillance and remote security management in subway/ mass transit rail services;
· Comprehensive fire prevention technologies for subway/ mass transit rail system;
· Evacuation and emergency response study for subway/ mass transit rail system;
· Risk analysis and management in subway/ mass transit rail services.
· Energy saving, renewable energy consumption for subway/ mass transit rail services
· Other topics relating to mass transit facilities and etc.

Please note that no registration fee is required for attending the workshop/ conference and presenters are responsible for all of their own traveling and other expenses.
