Congratulation for your retirement!
It is ‘papillary thyroid carcinoma’ that acts as ‘bridge’ between you and I!
I had a dream to become your student just at the time you did diagnosis on my own slide. I am so lucky to be your last PhD student!
Time runs so fast! No words can express my thanks to you, but there are really some words that I will never forget:
The first is ‘劉先生はいつでも明るいですね!’, which will encourage me to be optimistic forever. In fact, you always behave in a ring-a-ding way every day, which impresses everyone surrounding you.
The second is ‘Push, push and push!’, which remind me to step up every day.
The third is ‘You must jump out the textbook!’, which teach me to stand high and see far. Your new idea on classification of thyroid tumor is one of the best examples for this word.
The fourth word is ‘Show me your plan!’, which make it a routine for me to make a plan for every year, month and day, and to fulfill it one by one.
The fifth is ‘You should grow up!’, which make me independent gradually to do diagnosis, research and autopsy.
The most impressive thing is your ‘responsibility and comprehensiveness!’. You have a belief that you are responsible for training pathologists for both Japan and China. You do help our Chinese students to improve the research and teaching system in China!
You also contribute a lot for the communication between our two university. Most of your 13 Chinese PhD have already been specialist in different field in China. In memory of your contribution to China, you will be regarded as the generator of ‘Thyroid club of China’.
Retirement is just the beginning of a completely new life! I wish you to enjoy your life everyday!
Congratulation again!
Best regards
Zhiyan Liu, MD, PhD
