I always feel like that I am a lucky person to have a glimpse of the beauty in nature. This morning, on my way to the library, a songful voice catched my attention. When I looked up, a tiny bird was jumping between the branches of a cedar. After following it for a while, finally, I recognized that this naughty bird as Gansu leaf warbler by its distinct coronal stripe and the two wing spots, one of which can hardly be seen. To be honest, I am not an expert in identifying warblers because many of them are similar to each other and the more reliable way is through the bird song. I knew this bird three years ago when I was an undergraduate student, but after so long a time without birdwathcing, I am not sure now. Anyway, the moment I recognized the little bird, it feels like meeting an old friend.
Gansu is not somewhere you can define it as lush. Most students in Lanzhou Unvirsity think that we only get sparrows here. However, there are almost a hundred kinds of birds in our campus. I'm lucky to join a group "Darwin Association" in Lanzhou University. It is in there I developed my hobby of watching birds and recognizing plants. It shocked me that after so long a time without bird-watching, the feeling when I met the lovely birds are still exciting. As I said before, they were like old friends, and so were the plants that I know in a totally unfamiliar places. I'm impressed by how these creatures different from each other and how beautiful they are if you watch them carefully. I'm pround and honoured to live in this very planet with all of them.
I love doing experiments in the lab, and I love watching all the amazing birds outside as well. I had fun in bird-watching and I'm writing all this stuff just for telling everyone how joyful it is. Hope more and more people have fun and having the feeling of how great the nature is.
