研究人员在《Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology，脊椎动物古生物学杂志》上报道说，Cryodrakon boreas 翼展10米，重250公斤，成为有史以来最大的飞行动物。

它的遗骸是30多年前在加拿大阿尔伯塔省首次发现的，但由于分类错误，没有引起多少人的兴奋。

和其他同时生活的有翼爬行动物一样，大约7700万年前，C. boreas是食肉动物，可能以蜥蜴、小型哺乳动物甚至恐龙幼崽为食。
