What can't we do on the internet and via the internet?

With the development of information science and network technology, our work and life have been greatly changed.

In our life, we can purchase and sell various things such as books, clothes, shoes, cosmetics, food, furniture, family facilities, and thought on the internet or via internet; we can pay various fees including water charge, energy charge, gas charge, estate management fee, internet charge, telephone call fee, tuition, and test registration fee on the internet with credit cards; we can book tickets or reserve hotels on the internet; we can chat or communicate with people who are living anywhere in the earth by email or via the internet with instant chat tools, or video and audio equipment; we can visit websites around the world; we can read novels, see movies, listen to music, play games on the internet; we can attend tele-schools on the net or attend tele-interview or on-line project defense. Information and network technology  have brought great changes in our life.

Our work also depends on the net so much. We buy the needy experimental devices or chemicals via the internet; we visit various databases and use search engines to collect the needed information and research materials on the net; we submit our manuscripts to the editorial boards on the net; we transmit word-documents, pictures, videos and audio files via the net; we do cooperative research or design or programming together with people far away from us in space distance; we use on-line tools such as on-line dictionaries, on-line translation, on-line consultation to obtain what we need; we search area codes, zip codes, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, unit information, personal information of persons we are interested in, etc.. on the internet.

It will be unimaginable if one day we can't surf on the net any more. Our life and our work will become considerably inconvenient.

In spite of the great impact and great value of the network on and in our life, there are still many things that can't be done on the net. With the technology development, more and more things can be done on the internet, more and more transactions can be conducted on the internet!
