2011年国际护士节活动主题—— “缩小差距：增加收入和公平”（Closing The Gap: Increasing Access and Equity.）

      每年的5月12日是国际护士节。该节是为纪念现代护理学科的创始人—弗劳伦斯·南丁格尔，于1912年设立的。设立国际护士节的基本宗旨是倡导、继承和弘扬南丁格尔不畏艰险、甘于奉献、救死扶伤、勇于献身的人道主义精神。

      弗洛伦斯·南丁格尔，因她在克里米亚进行护理而闻名，被誉为“提灯女神”。1908年3月16日，她在88岁高龄时被授予伦敦城自由奖。她是世界上第一个真正的女护士，开创了护理事业。“5.12"国际护士节是全世界护士的共同节日，就是为了纪念这位近代护理的创始人而设立的，这一天就是弗洛伦斯·南丁格尔的生日。
