国内外对赤泥的安全处置、综合利用等问题越来越重视。继2010年3月31日至4月1日，国内首次召开了全国氧化铝赤泥综合利用现场技术交流会。2011年10月17~19号在印度的果阿邦将召开赤泥国际研讨会，该研讨会由 the International Committee for Study of Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium (ICSOBA)主办，印度铝业承办。

感觉上述会议的官方色彩重，学术气氛轻。本次会议主题如下：

?To review the present status of bauxite residue characterisation, handling, disposal, storage, treatment and utilization in various alumina refineries of the world.

?To discuss problems related to environment and safety considerations for safe disposal and storage of mud.

?To highlight the best options for mud handling, storage, treatment / utilization etc. for existing and future Greenfield alumina refineries.

?To discuss promising research developments in the field of safe storage of red mud and its treatment / utilization.
