When I read the introduction to latest issue of Nature, I was very exciting because it mentions to break down the barriers between disciplines. Together with the building global link, breaking down the barriers between disciplines is said a vital factor to help the world weather the financial squeeze. Recently I am paying a lot attention in the barriers between disciplines, so I had thought it would be very helpful for my study.

Unfortunately, the link in the introduction lead me to an article: Cooperation must rule. The article has something with cooperation between different disciplines, but the main idea in the article is about how corporation behave themselves in the recession. Collective interest should become guiding principle. I knew it as soon as I began to study in the primary school, but reality makes me doubt the possibility.

Anyway a sentence in the beginning is very interesting: Navigating an unpredictable world need different research disciplines to work together as equals.

I also attach the introduction of Nature here

The latest issue of Nature on the recession provides analysis and advice on how to survive the global economic downturn. Science is key to nation-building during a recession but scientists must learn to convince politicians of the need to protect research budgets. Building global links and breaking down the barriers between disciplines is vital if the world is to weather the financial squeeze. Central banks must also end their obsession with cutting interest rates and technology start-ups will need to cut costs and sell what they can. A stimulus package for the developing world could, however, benefit everyone.
