寒冷会促使癌细胞的生长和扩散

  据美国《今日医学信息网》11月23日报道,美国纽约州罗斯维尔帕克癌症研究所的科学家发表在《美国国家科学院院报》上的一项研究成果显示:寒冷的环境会促使动物肿瘤的生长和扩散,这一新发现对开辟新的癌症治疗方法具有重大意义。

  研究人员比较了分别安置在22℃和30℃的环境中小鼠癌细胞的生长和扩散模式后,他们发现有几种类型的癌症(包括胰腺癌、结肠癌、皮肤癌和乳腺癌)在较为寒冷的环境中生长得更为迅速、扩散得更早和更具有浸润性。即使在已经习惯于寒冷温度的小鼠和从出生起就生活于寒冷环境中的小鼠体内,这几类肿瘤细胞也会得到更为迅速地生长。

  研究者解释说:虽然这两组老鼠在患上癌症以前体内的T细胞数量相同,但处于温暖环境中的动物体内的T细胞能够更快更好地搜寻到肿瘤细胞并进行摧毁。此外,相对于处于寒冷环境中的小鼠,在温暖环境中的小鼠体内的T细胞能够分泌出更多数量的抗癌物质。在寒冷环境中的小鼠体内会存在更多的抑制抗肿瘤免疫反应的细胞,也就是说它们更容易接受肿瘤细胞而不是对其进行打击。研究者认为类似的现象也会出现在癌症患者身上,他们在正常的室温环境中容易感到寒冷,尤其是在接受完治疗后。
