1.       one of the most popular open-source programs for data analysis among ecologists [8].

2.       basing the implementation of the presentation layer on existing workflows in line with the increasing popularity of R, e.g., in the environmental sciences and ecology [23]

3.       a freely-available statistical computing platform that has been widely adopted across scientific disciplines (e.g. 58% of ecological papers published in 2017 used R as their primary analytic tool Lai et al., 2019)

4.       Are open and free, which today practically coincide with packages and functions implemented and maintained in R (Lai et al., 2019)

5.       This means BotanizeR is written in R, the most widely used programming environment for statistical computing and graphics in ecology (Lai et al., 2019)

6.       R is among the most widely used programming languages in ecological research and, as a free and open source language, it contributes to the growth of open and reproducible science [57]

7.       First, there is a programming barrier as most, if not all, algorithms are written in the Python language while most ecologists are versed in R (Lai et al. 2019)

8.       In comparison, open-source software projects such as the R statistical language have shown to be truly innovative and adapted rapidly to new demands and research trends, via user-driven innovation networks (Von Hippel 2005;Von Hippel 2007), lifting it to one of the most popular data tools in science (Muenchen 2012;Lai et al. 2019).

9.       Especially considering the increasing popularity of the R programming language (R Core Team, 2020) amongst ecologists and the reality that most users are not familiar with the underlying C++ code of the R functions (Lai et al., 2019).

10.    This answer appears rooted in the perception that their data and/or code could be "scooped." Although understandable, this view is not aligned with the reality of mandatory open data (in some cases enforced by both funding agencies and journals) and open platforms (R, Python, etc.) scientists are embracing worldwide (Lai et al. 2019; http:// r4sta ts. com/ artic les/ popul arity/).

11.    The statistical computing language R (R Core Team, 2020) has increased in popularity over the last decade, and is now one of the most common programming languages used by ecologists (Lai et al., 2019)

12.    One of the fastgrowing in popularity platforms, R statistical software, has aroused interest especially among academics [10,11],

13.    Notably, use of language associated with statistical programmes like R; a popular tool in modern ecology studies (Lai et al. 2019), was at times problematic for authors and reviewers, revealing a challenge for research interpretation by practitioners without academic backgrounds or support.

14.    To address the above problems, we developed the R package SP2000 using R programming language (due to its features of open-sourced, cross-platformed, etc.; Tippmann, 2014;Zhang et al, 2016;Lai et al, 2019;R Core Team, 2020),

15.    In recent years, R (R Core Team, 2020) has become the most widely used programming language in ecology, especially in spatial ecology studies (Lai et al., 2019)

16.    R proved to be a main or one of the most important programs in many fields of science that rely on spatial data and spatial data patterns. It includes different subfields of ecology (Sciaini et al. 2018;Lai et al. 2019)

17.    are open and free, which today practically coincide with packages and functions implemented and maintained in R (Lai, Lortie, Muenchen, Yang, & Ma, 2019);

18.    Dramatic changes have also been seen in the computing tools used in environmental science, with an increase of over 45% in the use of R in environmental science publications over the last ten years (Lai et al., 2019)

19.    However, to date no GEOBIA methods have been designed in Program R, the open-source programming language most widely used in ecological data analysis (Lai et al., 2019)

20.    The revolutionary success of the open source and free programming language R (R Core Team, 2020) aptly exemplifies the importance of community involvement in developing and sharing standard tools for a massive reduction in redundant efforts, as well as having access to a much larger community support (Boettiger et al., 2015;Lai et al., 2019)

21.    Specifically, in ecology and evolution there is an evolving community of practice of how we work with evidence and collaborate and a culture that to an increasing extent relies on computational tools (Markowetz, 2017) including R (Lai et al., 2019)

22.    More recently, however, statistics in the fields of ecology and evolution for instance have increasingly moved to the programming language R (Lai, Lortie, Muenchen, Yang, & Ma, 2019).

23.    The programming language R (R Core Team, 2018) is one of the most used open source software in data science (Lai et al., 2019)

24.    For many ecologists, writing customized code has become an essential part of research, regardless of whether they conduct laboratory, field-based, or purely theoretical research [13,15,16]

25. tforms in the environmental sciences (Lai et al., 2019;Slater et al., 2019)

The R statistical programming language (RDCT, 2020) is one of the most commonly used analysis pla

26.    Originally designed for statistical analysis, R is now widely applied in various fields of research and is particularly popular among environmental scientists (e. g., Lai et al., 2019)

27.    In another study of ecology in general, the same pattern in reported R usage was observed [26].

      28.    R is also commonly used by ecologists (Lai et al. 2019) and evolutionary biologists.

29.    In ecology and evolution, R has become the lingua franca with over 60% of 60,000 articles in these domains reporting its use by 2017 (Lai, Lortie, Muenchen, Yang, & Ma, 2019)

     30.    The use of R is widespread throughout the environmental science research community (Lai et al., 2019)

     31.    The R programming language is becoming the choice medium for teaching statistics to biological sciences students because of its high uptake by the professional community (e.g. Lai et al. 2019)

     32.    the R software environment for statistical computing and graphics [36] is widely used in ecological research nowadays [37]

33.    Additionally, post-processing of NetLogo model output is mostly done within statistical software, such as r (the most prominent programming language for ecologists; Lai, Lortie, Muenchen, Yang, & Ma, 2019)

34.    and analyzing datasets with computationally intensive software programs and models (Lai et al. 2019)
