【求赐教】 溶解性和基态与激发态的带宽有什么关系?

友Leping发现我负责的富勒烯维基条目中这样这句话,

"有些富勒烯是不可溶的,因为他们的基态与激发态的带宽很窄"

他问这句话如何理解? 溶解性和基态与激发态的带宽有什么关系?

我只能无奈的说,英文维基就是这么写的,刚查看了英文原版,居然没有给出来源。依据我有限的知识从没有见过类似溶解度和带隙的关系的描述。怎么办?

Question: Excuse my ignorance, what's the source of this sentence "Some fullerene structures are not soluble because they have a small band gap between the ground and excited states." and there is no reference about this, and I have never heard anything about it.
