In this contribution a new concept for the development ofreal-time audio processing on a general-purpose personal computer based on theReal-Time Linux Operating System (Knoppix3.3) is presented. To overcomeimportant difficulties in Windows Operating System such as robustness and lowlatency, we applied RT-Linux (hard real-time) operating system as a platform.

This paper describes the Real Time Audio processingframework. First of all we discussed the objectives we pursue with itsdevelopment and then we have given an overview of the system from both hardwareand software point of view. Next we described the implementation detailsincluding hardware module, software module and host module (interfacing) andfinally the applications.
