Following the successful experience of the past few years, we plan to continue our workshop series. This time the venue will be at University of Fribourg (http://www.unifr.ch) and the Complexity Science workshop will take place during the period 16th Sep. to 19th Sep., 2011.

 

The workshop offers an intensive three day introduction to complex behavior in mathematical, physical, living, and social systems for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the sciences and social sciences. The workshop is for participants who seek background and hands-on experience to help them prepare to conduct interdisciplinary research in areas related to complex systems.

 

The program consists of an intensive series of lectures and discussion sessions focusing on foundational ideas, tools, and current topics in complex systems research. These include the complexity in social, economic, biological, physical, information systems and specific applications of these core topics to various disciplines. The goal of this workshop is to facilitate cooperations between Chinese and European communities on complexity sciences, and to introduce the state-of-the-art scientific progress to Chinese and European young researchers, some candidates would possibly be evolved in European Flagship project.

  

All activities will be conducted in English. Participants are expected to attend the entire session. Applicants are welcome from all countries. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Enrollment is limited.

Fees
　　Type I: 200 CHF for attending workshop.
　　Type II: 400 CHF for attending workshop and sightseeing tours.
