Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 12:24:07 -0500  Dear Professor Huang, I am very glad to hear from you.  First, you can obtain information about the AHA annual meeting in Chicago by visiting the AHA's website at www.theaha.org which should give you plenty of information.  I know there will be two panels organized by the Chinese Historians in the United States (CHUS): "Grassroots Democracy and Social Reforms in Twentieth-Century China"(9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Marriott, Northwestern Room); "Changing Dynamics of China's Foreign Relations" (2:30 - 4:30 p.m., Marriott, Northwestern Room), both panels will be held on January 8 Saturday.  You should be able to meet a lot of Chinese historians in those two panels should you attend the meeting. I will be at the meeting, but not to give papers. I am serving as the chair of our department's search committee.  We will be interviewing candidates for our two positions at AHA.  I am sure that I will run into you one way or anther.  I will be very happy to see you there.  As soon as my hotel is booked, I will let you know.
