螳螂的“相爱相杀”

雌螳螂以在性接触或性邂逅（sexual encounter）过程中或之后攻击和吞食雄螳螂而闻名，但越来越多的证据表明，一些雄螳螂也会攻击雌性，赢得一场战斗对成功交配至关重要。
结果取决于谁在前12小时内赢得了战斗。如果雌性赢得了战斗，她总是会吃掉雄性。但如果雄性获胜，交配是最常见的结果。
