在2008年JCR的高影响因子(>20)期刊中，Pharmacol Rev也是榜上有名。通过浏览该刊的网站(http://pharmrev.aspetjournals.org/)，发现这份期刊由美国药理学与实验治疗学学会(The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, ASPET)主办，创刊于1949年4月，一直为季刊，以发表综述性论文为主，兼发国际基础药理学与临床药理学联合会(IUPHAR)的专业术语报告。

       Pharmacol Rev每年发表的论文数量很少(2007年为14篇，2008年为18篇)，论文公开发表12个月以后即可免费获取。

       Pharmacol Rev的作者指南(Instructions to Authors)明确指出: “Papers published in Pharmacological Reviews are generally invited by the Editor after consideration of recommendations from the Associate Editors. Others who have an interest in writing for Pharmacological Reviews are encouraged to send proposals to the Editor”. 看来这又是一份以编辑约稿为主的综述性期刊。
