人参有多少个名字？
人参被人们称为“百草之王”，是驰名中外、老幼皆知的名贵药材。人参得名，大概因其根部肥大，形若纺锤，常有分叉，全貌颇似人的头、手、足和四肢，故而得名人参。
中国是植物人参的原产国。人参的植物学名称为：Panax Ginseng C.A. Mey，是由俄罗斯植物学家C. A. Meyer于1843年命名的。人参的拉丁名Panax为希腊语pan与axos的组合词，pan是“所有”“全部”的意思，axos是“治疗”的意思，所以Panax有“治疗所有病症”、“万能药”和“灵丹妙药”之意。
人参的中药材英文名称为：Radix Ginseng；汉语拼音为：Ren Shen；中国大陆中文简体写作：人参；港澳台及东南亚中文繁体写作：“人蔘”；我国古代文献中将人参写作“人参”、“人叅”或“眞参”等。
人参在中国已有四千多年的应用历史。人参在中国古代有许多别名和雅号，如《本草经集注》中称为“人衔”、“鬼盖”；《吴氏本草》中称人参为“玉精”、“神草”、“黄参”、“久微”；《本草图经》中称人参为“地精”、“百尺杵”；《广雅》中称人参为“侮腴”、“皱面还丹”；《本草纲目》中称人参为“金井玉阁”、“孩儿参”；《名医别录》中称人参为“土精”、“血参”、“人微”；《辽宁主要药材》中称人参为“棒棰”等等。满族语中把人参称作“奥尔厚达”，“奥尔厚达”是草类总称，“达”是“首领”、“头人”的意思，译成现代汉语即为“百草之王”。
About Ginseng’s Names
Ginseng is known as the “king of all herbs”, which is famous in the world among the young and old. Ginseng was named first in China, probablybecause of the comparatively thick and spindle-shaped often divergent roots, whichis just like the shape of human’s head, hands and feet.
China is the origin place of Ginseng plant. The botanicalname of Ginseng is Panax Ginseng C.A. Meyer, which was named by the Russianbotanist C. A. Meyer in 1843.
