Sri Aurobindo像  

   斯瑞*奥若宾多（Sri Aurobindo）是一位革命者，诗人，哲学家，作家和精神导师，1872年8月15日出生于印度东北的加尔各答（Calcutta）。他的生命富有魅力，但他对任何传记表述表示质疑。他说：“没有任何人可书写我的生命，因为人们的理解，还未触及皮毛。”但他的著作和外部生命，使得可对这个独特的精神导师的生命给予深入一瞥。斯瑞*奥若宾多为瑜伽派铺平了道路，这就是所谓的“整体瑜伽”（Integral Yoga）。不像古老的瑜伽修行者，他认为瑜伽和灵性不必逃避世界。斯瑞*奥若宾多希望将神赐（带直觉性的含义）（Divine）带入全部生命。他生命的最后四十年中，他为了放弃一种新精神意识这个目标而不倦地工作。在博主看来，他具有一位深受印度传统文化浸染的、带有一些神秘宗教意识的革命性学者。他的以下两首诗显示出较深邃的哲学意味。

I have wrapped the wide world in my wider self

And Time and Space my spirit's seeing are.

I am the god and demon, ghost and elf,

I am the wind's speed and the blazing star.

All Nature is the nursling of my care,

I am its struggle and the eternal rest;

The world's joy thrilling runs through me, I bear

The sorrow of millions in my lonely breast.

I have learned a close identity with all,

Yet am by nothing bound that I become;

Carrying in me the universe's call

I mount to my imperishable home.

I pass beyond Time and life on measureless wings,

Yet still am one with born and unborn things.

All is abolished but the mute Alone.

The mind from thought released, the heart from grief,

Grow inexistent now beyond belief;

There is no I, no Nature, known-unknown.

The city, a shadow picture without tone,

Floats, quivers unreal; forms without relief

Flow, a cinema's vacant shapes; like a reef

Foundering in shoreless gulfs the world is done.

Only the illimitable Permanent

Is here. A Peace stupendous, featureless, still.

Replaces all, - what once was I, in It

A silent unnamed emptiness content

Either to fade in the Unknowable

Or thrill with the luminous seas of the Infinite.
