Equinor Bolsters South Korea Floating Wind Ties
Norway’s Equinor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Ulsan City to cooperate on the development of floating wind projects in South Korea.
Under the MoU, Equinor and Ulsan City will jointly explore the opportunities for the development of floating wind projects in South Korea.
According to Ulsan City, Equinor, the operator of the world’s first and only commercial floating wind farm, will share its expertise in establishing a local supply chain for both the technology and the manpower needed for the projects.
Earlier this year, Equinor signed an MoU with Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) to jointly explore the opportunities of developing commercial floating offshore wind in South Korea. KNOC is looking to develop a 200MW floating offshore wind project at its existing Donghae platform 58km off the coast of Ulsan City.
