Don’t Set Ambitious Goals to Change Your Life

It is that time of the year again to set New Year resolutions. Many of us will set ambitious goals to change our life for the better whether it is to be rich, famous, or some thing magnificent. Unfortunately, most of us fail after the first month. I know I have in the past. This trick is to start small. Here is one personal experience. I was overweight and gaining pounds every month about a decade ago. Then one birthday, my daughter gave me a health club membership for three month at a place very near my home. I actually hated exercise but did not want to refuse/disappoint her good intention. Since the club is near my home and I am retired so I promised to myself that I’ll go over there just for five minutes. It is something I can tolerate. So I started doing that every time when I was going out to do some errands. Little did I know that after the three month membership exercise has become a HABIT. More importantly I even lost a little weight in that three months – a positive feedback. So I started to exercise more (half an hour nowadays) and I am still doing it more than ten years later and look forward to it each time. I still love all kinds of foods but my weight has stabilized at a healthy level. Above all, at my advanced age, I am healthy!
