Prologue
The Chinese people always cherish their old friends like the salt of the earth, and Ronald is a standard “old friend” to many Chinese scientometricians. True, he is an excellent scholar, a teacher, an expert…but more important than anything else, he is our friend.
I noticed that at the end of Ronald’s each email message, the following sentence is always attached:
“In scientific affairs one can never be too generous.”
I guess that this is his motto, and he really puts this motto into action. That’s why he has provided so much generous help to our Chinese colleagues. We all appreciate his generosity from the bottom of our hearts.
This commemorative album records Ronald’s academic exchange with Chinese colleagues, as well as his leisure and cultural activities in different places of China, with him always happily mingling with Chinese colleagues and friends, young and old.
It is our sincere hope that Ronald’s close academic connection with Chinese counterparts would bear sweeter fruits, such as co-authored papers with high impact, in the future, in addition to bringing him due psychological satisfaction derived from the profound respect and gratitude paid by Chinese colleagues.
